Library and Information Science
Information is my passion. Sharing, storing and creating information in the new web based world prompted me to attend the information school (iSchool) at the University of Washington.
I completed my Masters in Library and Information Science in 2008 from the University of Washington's iSchool. They offer both resident and distance programs. As a resident of Portland Oregon I did the distance program and was pleasantly surprised by the depth and breadth of the discussions on message boards. That coupled with working on research teams spread out across the North West (and beyond) provided me with a visceral understanding of how we can interact socially through this vast network using tools to share and grow our work together.

I've had a love affair with libraries since I could read, but in 1984 when I took my first computer programming class I knew that the future of information was on the cusp of revolution. What a ride it has been. In the 1990's I began playing with web design using html and FrontPage. By 2000 I was experimenting with Dreamweaver. In 2004 I built my first commerce site using an open source content management system called OS Commerce. Then came Drupal, and I've been Drupalling ever since. On occasion I'll cheat with a Google Site when I need a quick and simple solution for a campaign. I've played with Joomla, Plone, and Wordpress, but none have won me over from Drupal. It's flexibility and taxonomy options are the best. Drupal 7 has made significant improvements to the administrative interface. It just keeps getting better.
