The Journey of Forgiveness

"Following the murder of his only son Tariq in 1995 through a senseless, gang-related incident, Azim chose the path of forgiveness and compassion rather than revenge, and this amazing choice led to the establishment of the Tariq Khamisa Foundation (TKF) and his subsequent forgiveness work..."
I met Azim Khamisa at a conference of Educators for Nonviolence in Oakland a few years ago. His presence was inspiring, and his story brought tears to many. Our world desperately needs to learn this art of forgiveness. This is where compassion dwells and the possibility for a better future. Last July I attended his training for trainers. Late this Spring or Summer I will offer this transformative workshop.
Nonviolent Conflict Intervention
Nonviolent Conflict Intervention (NCI) workshops are now being offered in selected cities. These workshops provide techniques that are used successfully by individuals in their daily lives, by local peace teams, and by unarmed civilian peacekeepers worldwide.
Nonviolent Conflict Intervention (NCI) differs from other nonviolence training by focusing on nonpartisan, active, third party intervention. Most nonviolence courses teach what to do when you are yourself in conflict with another person - NCI training introduces and builds upon such skills while showing how you might intervene to de-escalate conflict between two (or more) other people or parties. A Nonviolent Conflict Intervention Workshop invites you to explore how nonviolent methods can lessen or prevent conflict—in your daily life, in your community, and around the world.
This one-day workshop is filled with hands-on exercises and role plays that will introduce you to basic communication and conflict resolution methods. You will learn how you can use these skills when you come across conflict in your daily life.
