Going Green on the Web
Submitted by tshofner on Sun, 05/30/2010 - 23:57.This site, along with all others managed by tshofner.net, have gone green. The migration from my previous service provider to the wind powered servers of GreenGreeks is complete.
I've been running websites for over 6 years now and must say my experience so far with the support at GreenGeeks has been above and beyond my expectations. Within 24hrs they had migrated five Drupal based websites with their databases flawlessly. One of the reasons I selected them was that they provide InnoDB, a transactional storage engine for MySQL, support. This is required to run CiviCRM. I'll blog more about CiviCRM later as it's a very powerful open source solution for non-profit organizations needing to track memberships, events and contributions.
Here are some of the features provided by GreenGeeks and with a two-year agreement it's only $6.95/month. It's hard to beat, and Green too!

Connecting Twitter and Facebook
Submitted by tshofner on Sun, 05/23/2010 - 00:35.As we build our web presence for good, we quickly realize the power of Facebook and Twitter for getting our message out to increasingly broad populations. But why make two updates when you can make one. For the nonviolent reader we say "feeding two birds from one hand". Here's a terrific screencast from Web Strategy Workshop folks showing us just how it's done.
Once you get Twitterific and Facebooked be sure to follow/friend me for more groovy web tips.
